STAYC captivated viewers with a dramatic performance reminiscent of the film Lady Vengeance, delivering a striking transformation.

On the August 13 episode of KBS2’s Immortal Songs—a special titled “Actress Lee Young-ae, An Immortal Masterpiece”—STAYC (Sumin, Sieun, ISA, Seeun, Yoon, and J) performed the classic hit “Red Shoes Lady.”

A year after their first appearance on the show’s “Remembering Park Kyung-ri” special in Wonju, STAYC reflected on joining their first competition program. “It’s our first time in a contest setting. Rehearsals were fine, but when our name was called my heart was racing and I thought, ‘I really can’t make a mistake today,’” they shared. “After seeing the opening stage I thought, ‘So this is Immortal Songs!’ but in a way we were glad to perform early.”

Choosing Nam Il-hae’s original “Red Shoes Lady,” which was featured in the Lee Young-ae film Lady Vengeance, STAYC highlighted the concept with matching red heels. They added playfully, “We want to show a kind STAYC to Lady Vengeance herself. Of course winning would be nice, but more than anything we just hope to see Lee Young-ae sunbaenim smile.”

Wearing trench coats and performing on a set evoking a chic wine bar, STAYC first delivered their smooth six-member harmonies. Then, removing their coats to reveal black mini-dresses, they stunned the audience with a captivating twist—leaving a powerful impression much like Lee Young-ae’s own daring transformation from Dae Jang Geum to Lady Vengeance.

Lee Young-ae responded warmly: “My daughter really loves STAYC, so I’ve become a fan too. Even though it’s an old song, you presented it in a fresh, modern style. I could see how much you practiced, and it showed a different side of STAYC’s charm that I think will win them even more fans.”

Meanwhile, STAYC will kick off a 10-city North American tour starting October 2 in Seattle, followed by stops in Los Angeles, Boston, New York, Toronto, and more.
