STAYC’s Yoon won over viewers with her bubbly Gen Z charm, quick wit, and effortless sense of humor.
On the December 17 broadcast of MBC’s variety show Radio Star, Yoon appeared as a guest and made a strong impression with her fresh character and steady conversational flow.
Yoon opened the show by introducing herself as “Ms. Shim Ja-yoon,” a character from the web variety series Workers, immediately drawing laughter. She also expressed her fondness for the famous “Seat No. 4,” known for producing countless variety stars, joking honestly, “My left side looks a little better than straight-on,” sending the studio into fits of laughter. She added playfully, “I did briefly wonder if I could move up to that seat someday,” further lifting the mood with her easygoing confidence.
The MCs couldn’t hide their admiration for Yoon’s Western-featured visuals, prompting her to share a behind-the-scenes story: “Early in my debut days, people said if I just kept my mouth shut, they couldn’t tell I was Korean.” She then revealed she’s from Gwangju and uses a regional accent, adding a charming contrast to her appearance. When asked which feature she liked most about herself, Yoon confidently chose her lips.
Calling herself a “variety rookie,” Yoon teased a personal “secret weapon” but ended up performing an awkward eye-movement gag that landed unexpectedly soft laughs. Rather than being discouraged, her visible self-satisfaction only made the moment cuter, highlighting her natural, unforced charm.
Reflecting on her audition for Workers, Yoon admitted, “It was my first acting audition, and the scale really shocked me.” She continued, “I got nervous when I thought of it as acting, but once I switched my mindset to variety, I felt much more comfortable. I just wanted to make the people in front of me laugh, and I think that came across.”
She also impressed viewers by instantly recreating her role as a “Gen Z rookie employee whose passion fades quickly,” explaining, “That’s actually similar to my real personality — I burn bright, then cool down fast — so it wasn’t hard to act.” She added a self-deprecating anecdote about learning how to use a printer for the role, only to forget it immediately and rely on the writers for help.
Living up to her reputation as a “meme icon,” Yoon showcased viral dance trends alongside Kim Yong-myung and even prepared custom T-shirts for the MCs, earning admiration for her thoughtfulness. When asked by Kim Gura if she had received any hints about future casting on Workers 2, Yoon responded with a wink and a playful “Shh! It’s a secret,” triggering laughter. Her lively reactions and effortless banter made her variety persona even more distinct.
With her exceptional sociability, sharp sense of humor, and natural reactions, Yoon firmly established herself as a promising new variety star through Radio Star.

The opportunity came sooner than I expected. I was surprised, but I approached it with deep gratitude.”
Park Nam-jung also shared his thoughts, revealing, “I learned so much while practicing. I’ve mostly performed solo, but preparing music and choreography that fit current trends pushed me to practice even harder.” Anticipation grew for the special stage bringing together two artists from different generations.
Throughout rehearsals, Sieun demonstrated a highly professional attitude. She personally checked her father’s stage positioning and guided his movements, later commenting, “My dad never gives up. Once something is mentioned, he practices it relentlessly, almost like a perfectionist.” Her admiration was evident.
Ahead of the performance, Park Nam-jung praised his daughter, saying, “She has exceptional talent. There’s nothing for me to teach her — only things for me to learn.” Sieun responded warmly, adding, “If I didn’t inherit this from my dad, I honestly wonder where it came from. It really made me understand what people mean when they say talent runs in the blood.”
On stage, the duo performed 3D and Park Nam-jung’s classic Days Brushed by the Rain. Their commanding presence and seamless performance completely captivated the audience. Park Nam-jung’s seasoned artistry combined with Sieun’s fiery passion created explosive synergy, drawing admiration from all in attendance.

STAYC’s Sieun and Yoon stole the spotlight with their infectious energy and easygoing chemistry that resonated with the MZ generation.
On the August 17 broadcast of KBS2’s Long Hair Blowing, Sieun and Yoon joined legendary long-haired rockers Kim Tae-won, Kim Jong-seo, Kim Kyung-ho, and Park Wan-kyu for a laid-back countryside vacation.
Arriving with high spirits, the two announced, “We came to hang out with the seniors,” instantly lifting the mood. Kim Jong-seo, who had met Sieun when she was a child, expressed his delight at seeing her again, while Kim Tae-won complimented, “You look like someone straight out of a comic.”
At Alpaca World, Sieun impressed everyone with her natural animal-handling skills as she guided the alpacas, while Yoon showed an adorable side when she became nervous as one approached.
The pair quickly bonded with the “Long Hair” rock legends. Eager to create memories, Sieun and Yoon offered to help the seniors snap “life-shot” photos, crafting hat accessories themselves to show their MZ-generation flair. They even taught the rockers fun poses like the playful “Agung-ppang” stance, radiating lively energy.
Later at their lodging, Sieun and Yoon bravely set out to collect blue eggs. Though initially hesitant, they overcame their fears and returned triumphantly with a basketful. “You really have to be bold in life,” Sieun said with satisfaction, while both beamed proudly as they presented the eggs to their new friends.
After a long day, they enjoyed dinner with the rock legends, played the classic “rubber-shoe” game, and shared an impromptu live performance that bridged generations. “It felt like meeting relatives,” Sieun reflected, while Yoon added, “I had such a happy time today with these legendary seniors.”

STAYC captivated viewers with a dramatic performance reminiscent of the film Lady Vengeance, delivering a striking transformation.
On the August 13 episode of KBS2’s Immortal Songs—a special titled “Actress Lee Young-ae, An Immortal Masterpiece”—STAYC (Sumin, Sieun, ISA, Seeun, Yoon, and J) performed the classic hit “Red Shoes Lady.”
A year after their first appearance on the show’s “Remembering Park Kyung-ri” special in Wonju, STAYC reflected on joining their first competition program. “It’s our first time in a contest setting. Rehearsals were fine, but when our name was called my heart was racing and I thought, ‘I really can’t make a mistake today,’” they shared. “After seeing the opening stage I thought, ‘So this is Immortal Songs!’ but in a way we were glad to perform early.”
Choosing Nam Il-hae’s original “Red Shoes Lady,” which was featured in the Lee Young-ae film Lady Vengeance, STAYC highlighted the concept with matching red heels. They added playfully, “We want to show a kind STAYC to Lady Vengeance herself. Of course winning would be nice, but more than anything we just hope to see Lee Young-ae sunbaenim smile.”
Wearing trench coats and performing on a set evoking a chic wine bar, STAYC first delivered their smooth six-member harmonies. Then, removing their coats to reveal black mini-dresses, they stunned the audience with a captivating twist—leaving a powerful impression much like Lee Young-ae’s own daring transformation from Dae Jang Geum to Lady Vengeance.
Lee Young-ae responded warmly: “My daughter really loves STAYC, so I’ve become a fan too. Even though it’s an old song, you presented it in a fresh, modern style. I could see how much you practiced, and it showed a different side of STAYC’s charm that I think will win them even more fans.”
Meanwhile, STAYC will kick off a 10-city North American tour starting October 2 in Seattle, followed by stops in Los Angeles, Boston, New York, Toronto, and more.
