STAYC’s Sumin is set to make her big-screen debut, expanding her activities beyond the stage.

Sumin will appear in the upcoming horror film “The Ghost Market” (directed by Hong Won-ki), which is scheduled for release on January 17, officially beginning her acting career under her birth name, Bae Sumin.

The film depicts a chilling story set in “The Ghost Market,” a mysterious place that opens whenever a fox-shaped window is unlocked, where people trade with spirits to obtain what they could not have in life.

In the film, Sumin plays Soo-yeon, the daughter of Hee-jin (played by Seo Young-hee), a mother who stakes everything on sending her child to a prestigious university and steps into the forbidden market. Portraying a student obsessively fixated on grades and college admissions, Sumin brings the character’s realistic anxieties to life, heightening the sense of dread that drives the story.

Taking on her first-ever acting role, Sumin is expected to deliver delicate yet intense emotions, revealing a new side of herself beyond the bright and confident image she has shown on stage. Anticipation is high to see how she will reinterpret the horror genre in her own unique way.

Meanwhile, STAYC recently wrapped up their successful “STAY TUNED” Asia tour across eight cities and will kick off a 10-city North American tour in October. Alongside appearances at music festivals and award shows, the group continues to solidify their presence as true “Summer Queens.”

With “The Ghost Market” marking her debut as an actress, Sumin is expected to showcase her versatility and make her mark across diverse fields in the future.
